Joan TupponceNATIONAL AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST, JOAN TUPPONCE HAS BEEN FREELANCING SINCE 1989.

Joan’s articles have appeared in AmericanWay, O, The Oprah Magazine, Seventeen, US Airways Magazine, AAA Magazine, Teen Beat, Challenge magazine, Virginia Living, Virginia Golfer, Virginia Business, Richmond magazine, the New York Daily News, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Virginian-Pilot and more. She has also written for the public relations area of Sports Illustrated.

Joan spent several years covering the entertainment industry. She now writes about a variety of subjects including business, health and science, entertainment, sports and travel.

Her cover stories have included profiles on Maroon 5, Faith Hill, Brad Paisley, Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, ZZ Top, Shirley MacLaine, The Band Perry and The Bacon Brothers.

She has been a consistent winner of National Federation of Press Women Awards and was the 2009 Sweepstakes First Runner Up in the Communication Contest. She was the 2008 and 2009 Sweepstakes winner for the Virginia Press Women Association (now Virginia Professional Communicators). She also has won awards in the Virginia Press Association competition. Her awards include writing and photojournalism.

Her broadcast experience includes radio and television reviews, travelogues and celebrity interviews. Joan is also a Richmond area theater critic.

Joan is a member of Virginia Professional Communicators, the National Federation of Press Women and the Society of Professional Journalists.
